* Don't force masked blending for transmission/volume materials
glTF lets you choose your own alpha mode when using the transmission
and volume material extensions. We were forcing the masked mode which
was incorrect, except to pass the standard tests.
* Update release notes
At least some adreno compilers don't like returning an element of a
UBO array that is a structure in the vertex shader.
To work this around we have to copy the each of the structure fields.
Fixes#6355
We no longer use the hardcoded objectUniform UBO name, instead, we
access the object uniforms through the new getObjectUniforms().
Because it's not possible to return a "Uniform Block" from a function
in GLSL, a large part of this change, is to replace the interface block
by a structure.
Note: getObjectUniforms() is not public, but it is used by gltfio to
access the userData field, which is also not public at the moment.
An ubershader archive is a bundle of filamat packages with some metadata
that conveys which glTF features each material supports.
This PR does three things:
1. Adds a new command line tool called `uberz` that consumes a list
of filamat files and metadata text files and produces a single
ubershader archive.
2. Adds a new library (also called `uberz`) that is used by `gltfio`
to read ubershader archives, and used by the above command line
tool to write ubershader archives.
3. Enhances `UbershaderLoader` so that it no longers uses a hardcoded
set of materials, and instead takes an ubershader archive.
Ubershader archives have a simple binary layout that can be memcpy'd
directly into a C struct. The metadata is specified using a text file
with key-value pairs. These two file formats have formal desriptions in
the README in `libs/uberz`.
In a subsequent PR, we will remove the `gltfio_resources` target and
change the signature of `createUbershaderLoader` so that it takes
an archive.
This should help Filament properly support more glTF assets with
transparency, and should make Filament behave more like other
renderers such as three.js.

* Update to the new order of parameters

* Add support for sheenColor and sheenRoughness
This work is necessary to support the glTF extension KHR_materials_sheen.
This change effectively adds the specular lobe from the cloth material
model to the base material model. The cloth model remains useful for
its extra subsurface color feature but also because it's cheaper.
* Add support for KHR_materials_sheen to gltfio
* Update documentation
* Document default shading values
This chooses type=THIN, mode=SCREENSPACE, and blending=TRANSPARENT.
Due to sampler overload, we print a friendly error message and enable a
fallback if the user tries to simultaneously enable ubershader mode, the
clearcoat extension, and the transmission extension.
Emissive was previously defined in exposure compensation stops, which
was confusing to many. It is now a value in nits, with the alpha
channel controlling how much the camera exposure affects the emissive.
At 0, the emissive value is just added to the final pixel color, at
1 the emissive value is multiplied by the exposure just like with
regular lights.
The intensity of the emissive property can be computed from an
exposure value (EV) easily with the following formula:
emissive.rgb = emissive.rgb * pow(2.0, EV - 3.0);
This formula is available as Exposure::luminance(float) already
in Filament.
gltfio-lite now has its own template file rather than re-using the
ubershader one, which allows us to optimize the materials by removing
support for various glTF extensions like texture matrices,
specular-glossiness, and clear coat.
The user can now choose amongst 3 specular AO methods:
- None, specAO is off
- Simple, specAO is inferred from roughness and diffuse AO
- Bent normals, specAO is computed accurately from cone intersections
The last method is more expensive but produces the best results.
This change also fixes a few issues:
- Rename materialRefraction() and materialRefractionType() for
consistency
- Fixes user time in shaders
This enhances the exisiting matc option "--debug" so that it includes
debug information in the resulting SPIR-V.
Previously we tied this to the build configuration which isn't very
flexible. Moreover this needs to be orthogonal to shader opts, because
we often need to debug problems that arise from optimization.
This CL also gives meaningful names to the ubershader materials and
fixes up the new matinfo analysis so that it prints the entire SPIRV
chunk that corresponds to each potentially problematic GLSL codeline.
Motivated by #1516.
* MaterialInstance now has setMaskThreshold for convenience.
* Materials now support dynamic doubleSided property.
This does not change the format of material packages because they
already have both getDoubleSided() and getDoubleSidedSet().
The only way in which this change could impact existing applications is
that materials that explicity set doubleSided to "false" will now
respect the material's culling mode, rather than forcing it to NONE.
Fixes gltf_viewer with littlest_tokyo in ubershader mode.
Fixes#963.
* JNI for dynamic material properties.
* Add underscore prefix to internal material params.
* Remove un-needed mat info field.
We will need 6 pre-compiled materials (lit vs nonlit and the 3 blend
modes). This uses CMake's "configure_file" functionality to generate 6
mat files, then invokes matc on each one. They are then combined using
resgen.
