This has caused issues and over time we have reduced the use of
spinlocks, it was only used in few places and we still have evidence
that it's causing ANRs.
We use utils::Mutex instead which is a low overhead mutex implementation
on Linux systems.

This 2D allocator only supports power-of-two, square allocations. It
uses a quadtree to store the allocated regions.
The quadtree implementation currently has a fixed depth (templated).
The allocator does a best-fit match, but currently doesn't implement a
free method.

Filament does not yet fully support threads with WASM, but this is a
baby step in that direction.
To enable experimental pthreads support, enable the WEBGL_PTHREADS CMake
option. This will enable pthreads support in `gltfio` and `utils`, which
is known to work, but not when served with GitHub Pages.
The web server must emit COOP, COEP and CORP headers, so our build
instructions now recommend the use of `emrun` for local testing.
This also changes our demos so that they do not use unpkg, which
does not work when using `emrun`, due to cross-origin restrictions.
There were two places where we were doing unaligned reads: one when
computing the hash for the material identifier, and one when parsing
the chunk in ShaderReplacer.
We also had a potential overflow since civetweb does not add a trailing
null to incoming WebSockets messages.
The main change here is from ResourceList which ended-up generating
a lot of code due to inlining. This class is only used for tracking
user resources and is not in the performance path.
This saves another ~5K or so of code.
This will allow the Vulkan backend to efficiently track the subresource
image layouts for each texture.
This is a sparse container for a series of ordered non-overlapping
integer intervals, where each interval maps to a concrete value.
* Use locale-independent string->float conversion
strtof and friends are locale aware and won't parse decimal numbers
with a period ("12.6" for instance) in locales that use another
character for the decimal period ("," in French for instance).
This change introduces a new function called strtof_c that forces
the use of a specific locale (called "C") to make sure we always
parse floats in the desired "C" format ("12.6").
With C++17 we should be able to use std::from_chars but this API
is not implemented in clang for floats at the moment.
* Fix Linux
This is (almost) drop-in replacement for std::vector, the main
difference is that FixedCapacityVector has a fixed (at runtime)
capacity, which makes it a lot more efficient and small for operations
like push_back();
The capacity can be set (and re-set) as usual with reserve(),
but exceeding the capacity when adding items will throw.
The capacity is also set when creating the vector with a size.
In addition a FixedCapacityVector<> instance is only 16 bytes instead
of 24 for std::vector<>.
The aim here is to reduce code bloat.
assert() is now replaced by assert_invariant() which has the same
prototype and (currently) behaves the same than assert().
<assert.h> should not be used anymore, and is replaced by
<utils/debug.h>, which is where assert_invariant() is found.
The main motivation for this is to be able to set a breakpoint on the
assertion as lldb doesn't handle abort() very well, and doesn't
permit to inspect the stack trace.
A secondary motivation is to be able (at some point) to enable
assertions without necessarily doing a debug build.
* Lower limit from API 21 to API 19
This was requested by an internal application. API 19 is when OpenGL
ES 3.0 support was added so there is no good reason for us to not
support this API level. The only trick is to avoid referring to the
glTexStorage2DMultisample symbol directly as it only exists in 3.1.
* Compile out code we never use
* Use reflection to handle shared EGL contexts pre-API 21.
* Remove comment
* More fixes required to run on API level 19
- dlym() fails for ashmem on API 19, so we only try on API 26+ instead.
- Older emulation for OpenGL ES 3.0 returns error states for valid API calls so we need to clear the GL error bit before we create the GL driver.
- Activity lifecycle changes since API 19 would cause animations to keep running and to reference destroyed objects.
- EGLContext.getNativeHandle() is new in API 21, we need to use reflection on API 19. The new code path uses the class loading trick to avoid a bytecode verification error on API 19.
* Filament now runs properly on API level 19
This commit adds a new api_level() API to libutils which can be used to
query the platform's API level. On Android it works as expected, other
platforms currently return 0.
This prevents values like NONE or COLOR which are very generic
names to collide with other classic enums. It also forces us to be
specific about what we're doing when converting to bitfields.
Also added a utility to easily enable any enum or enum class to
support binary operation (i.e. Bitmask contract), e.g.:
template<> struct utils::EnableBitMaskOperators<Foo> : public std::true_type{};
gives all binary operators to 'Foo'. Foo must be an enum.
Also added any() and none() convenience to convert an enum to a boolean.

- only signal waitAndRelease() when the corresponding job finishes and
only if there is waitAndRelease() active -- instead of signaling
every time a job ends.
- don't surrender time slice when attempting to steal a job and it fails
